Queen Victoria Day - An Island Tradition

Victoria Day marks the beginning of the season at Put-in-Bay. A Canadian holiday, Queen Victoria Day is celebrated on the last Monday before or on May 24 in honour of both Queen Victoria’s birthday and the current reigning Canadian sovereign’s birthday. Along with Canada, some parts of Scotland and the Cayman Islands, the Lake Erie islands celebrate the holiday which precedes Memorial Day weekend in the Spring.

Events featured on Victoria Day include:

  • Downtown Scavenger Hunt: 1-3 PM

  • Put-in-Bay Poker Run: 4-6 PM

  • Island-Wide Garage Sale: 10 AM - 5 PM

Entry is only $15 and participants can enter more than once. Sign up will be located in De Rivera Park (across from Frosty’s). Prizes include mini-island vacation packages consisting of island lodging, meals, ferry and island transportation as well as souvenirs for 2 people! Many more prizes will be given away throughout the day. Come join the fun!
